Surprise version 5 Launch with 3 new coils, whats not surprising is that XP update their technology without you needing to buy a new machine…… AGAIN!
Now having said that here is my breakdown of the X35 and Version 5. Please keep in mind that there is Bugger all actual information out there but below is what I have gathered from my contacts at XP, Not some click bait blog.
Ok Here Goes.
What many NON deus users don’t understand is that the XP detector hardware is actually in the coil. What I mean is the part of the metal detector that analyses the ground and targets is located in the coi itself its one of the reasons its so fast. Every other metal detector on the planet has the hardware in the control box, that’s why you need a cable as the signal needs to travel from the ground up to the control box to be analysed. Deus does this at your toes, the Deus control box is exactly that a control box for the coil hardware.
Up until Now (version 4.2) the updates for the black coils have been purely software based. Sure some work was done on the chip inside the coil and the general design but essentially the hardware has been the same since 2009.
SIDE FACT the 9 Inch coil today is about 100 grams lighter then the original 2009 release.
Version 5 is what I would call the first real DETECTOR Upgrade for the deus as this time the actual detecting part has been redesigned and updated to suit a wider range of frequencies.
Now when you get a new X35 coil, your actually getting a new metal detector. Its the same with the HF coils, the internals are way more updated then the standard coils.
I hope that makes sense, if your a Deus owner then you ‘ll probably get it right away. If your not a deus owner then number one my condolences, Number 2 give me a call and I am happy to answer any questions about the deus you may have.
Lets dig into Version 5 and X35 coils.
Sizes remain the same:
22cm round (9 Inch)
28cm Round (11 Inch)
34 x 28 cm (13 x 11 Inch)
Frequencies have changed. This is where the X35 come from. The X35 coil has a Total of 35 frequencies –
5 main frequencies with 7 wide offsets
- 3.7 to 4.4 kHz,
- 7.1 to 8.4 kHz,
- 10.5 to 12.4 kHz,
- 15.2 to 17.8 kHz,
- 23.5 to 27.7 kHz
YES this is a similar system to the HF coil where it has 3 main frequencies with 7 offsets for a total of 21 frequencies.
So Now with an X35 coil and a HF coil in the bag you have a total of 56 frequencies to play with between 3.7kHz – Over 81Khz!
But for me the frequency spread is not the biggest news, its cool but really the big winners are those that have a set of WS4 or WS5 headphones. These little things are about o put on steroids! The WS4/5 picks up a lot of new features and puts the deus LITE in a new world as far as capabilities go.
Now just using the WS4/5 you can now change
- Reactivity
- TX Power
- Automatic Ground Tracking
- Frequency offset (35 frequencies with the new X35)
- Iron volume
- Audio Response
All these where previously only available to change with the full Deus remote, but now all you need is the deus LITE!
BEST thing is that even if you don’t buy a NEW X35 coil you still get all the new features For FREE!
For those with 2 coils and a remote and a headset, you now own 2 amazingly capable metal detectors so you can lend one to your poor mate who bought a CTX and is still waiting for their upgrade to come through. or maybe lend it your equinox friend who is bored with only having 1 coil because minelab forgot to release the other ones. LOL
But wait there is a little bit more.
This is kinda cool this next bit, as I believe not enough people use these low frequencies. in the low frequency band we now a TX Power Boost. Its a bit like a supercharger I suppose as it simply cranks the power up off the scale for a short time before dying spectacularly.
The TX Power boost lowers battery life to 6 hours from almost 20, so its exactly like driving a supercharged car with your foot MASHED to the floor until the tank runs dry. We all know that lithium maintains full power for most of its cycle, but when they go dead they go dead fast!
(Don’t forget to put em back on charge within 24 hours, lithium hates being left flat)
This power boost is designed to give you a pretty hefty depth increase and because its teamed with lower frequencies find this really deep big silvers and copper coins.
Here is a quick wrap up of the enhancements straight from the XP Blog.
- Total of 35 frequencies – 5 main frequencies with 7 wide offsets 3.7 to 4.4kHz, 7.1 to 8.4kHz, 10.5 to 12.4kHz, 15.2 to 17.8kHz, 23.5 to 27.7kHz
- Selectable frequency offset without loss of performance.
- TX power adjustment is available on all frequencies and offsets
- Special Low frequency TX Boost feature:
- Normal or Boost option – The transmitted power has 2 selectable levels when using frequencies 3.7Khz to 4.4kHz.
- The BOOST mode significantly increases the transmission power of the transmitting coil, allowing greater detection levels if the soil conditions allow.
- TX boost is a special mode, the battery life of the coil may be reduced down to 6 hours.
- The overall battery life of the x35 coil has improved on most frequencies by +10% to +40%
- High frequencies 23- 27.7kHz – Excellent sensitivity to low conductive targets and small targets.
- Better overall stability
- The X35 coils are available in 22cm (9”), 28cm (11”) and 34 / 28cm (13” x11”) and will work with the DEUS in version 5.
With Version 5 of the XP Deus we not only get a few new toys to play withe cupboard we get a whole new toy set as well in the new X35 Coil.
Now inevitably the question that is going to be asked is which coil to get?
That’s easy Just get all 3 then your safe. LOL
In all seriousness I am thinking the new X35 11 inch and 13 x 11 inch are going to be the story.
WHY?
Because Deus is so fast you can wind up reactivity to counter having the larger coil. I guarantee there is not an 11 inch coil on the market in any detector that can respond like the deus. This is where the rarely used 4-5 reactivity can be employed. Normally that level is overkill on a 9 inch, but on the new 11 inch in a very trashy site I think it will be used more widely, rather than go to a so called sniper coil.
The same can be said for the 13×11, its the same width as the 11 inch so in theory should separate as well as the 11 inch round. to be honest I have always talked people out of the 13 x 11, but with the X35 coil I am now thinking very differently for large flat areas.
What I am thinking in the overall picture is that if you owned an 11 inch X35 coil and Either one of the HF coils (round for coins, elliptical for goldfield) you would have a pretty serious kit combined with the stock coils you own now.
If you also owned the WS4/5 all you need is a second shaft or some 100 mile an hour tape and a broom stick and you have 2 powerful machines. I am thinking that a lot of my gold work will now be done simply with the WS4’s while the remote sits in the car.
Where do we go from here and what is the timeline.
I kinda got caught there as I literally ordered new machines and coils last week, I am in the process of swapping that over the X35 models.
However here is the drama.
The X35 coils will be available for me to order from XP at the end of this month, as XP make all the products fresh to order I need to get my order in fast. My advantage is that with time differences I have about a 6 hour headstart on getting my email in the que over the other international distributors. It worked for me with the HF release, I got the first commercial batch in the world. So I will repeat that process this time as well to secure an early production slot.
BUT I can’t get the NEW Kits with version 5 factory installed until the end of August. So Current Deus owners get first access to the X35 and new Deus owners you can get access about a month later.
Pre-Orders are OPEN on the X35, Pricing is exactly the same as the version 4.2 coils. I have NO IDEA what you the customer wants so a pre-order is the only way to absolutely guarantee you get the coil you want.
I have no ideas on volume and as I am not the biggest distributor in Australia I will have limited stock as I generally try not to carry a ridiculous amount of stock.
After 3 years of doing this I used to know what I would sell in any given time frame, that no longer applies as the X35 is going to take off in my opinion, a lot more than the HF and version 4 ever did. The changes are subtle in most cases with version 5 from what I have heard but will truly show that the Deus is the most versatile and only Modular metal detecting system on the market today.
Software upgrades are of course FREE of charge and will be released shortly.

Ok I think that covers most of it, as more information comes to hand I will tell you more.
This release caught me 100% unaware and I was surprised as anyone to hear about it. I actually thought the remote might get the next touch up but I was wrong…. again…..LOL
If you have questions call me, If i don’t answer I’ll call you back as soon as I can.
Thanks For reading I am pretty excited about this launch and I am looking forward to getting my hands on the X35 coils soon.
Cheers and Happy Hunting

If you measure the outside circumference of the 13×11 then use the ellipse formula theres not much in it compared to the eleven inch ,but its heavy lump and needs a centralising block to to line it up with the shaft ,the block is just added weight.
Ive my name down for the 11inch,would have loved to have ordered it from you,but the postage to the UK may be expensive, ive had the nine inch round HF coil which found me a few bits ,but the higher frequencies do lend themselves to small low conductive shallow targets ,always felt I was losing better targets that were deeper.
The frequecy range of these new coils are very comprehensive ,and more workable for our type of detecting in the uk an eleven inch eliptical would have been nice in amongst the stubble ,
I think these coils will sell well ,didnt surprise me theyve introduced them im told they will be here at the end of this mpnth along withV5 upgrade release
